Bee Safe Visit

8th Apr 2022

Bee Safe visited school this week to give the children a very important talk on being safe on farms, on buses and on the roads. They showed videos which showed what can happen when people do not behave responsibly and appropriately when out and about. They also gave useful advice on what to do when using public transport, a situation to be faced by the current P7 children when they start secondary school in five months’ time.
The children were able to board a Translink bus and meet the driver who spoke about being safe at the bus top and how to behave sensibly on a bus.

The children heard good advice about being careful around cows and their calves and to avoid climbing on farm roofs or on bales of hay. Bee Safe emphasised the danger of slurry and the great harm that the noxious gases from slurry can cause. The children were encouraged to be extra careful around farm machinery and to be especially vigilant when on a farm as a tractor driver may not see a young child in his path.

Many thanks to the Bee Safe Team for their valuable advice!
