St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School Eco - Committee

The Eco Committee was set up in March 2017. The aim is  to try and make St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School a more eco-friendly environment.

The council is made up of representatives from Primary 4 - 7.

The Eco Committee developed our school Eco Code. We are the ECO SAVERS and we follow the rules set out in the code to ensure our school is eco-friendly and energy efficient.

Children and staff are all encouraged to use the bins correctly for paper, plastic and items that are not recyclable. We also put our fruit peels, apple cores and tea bags into the compost bin. The compost can then be reused for growing our plants and flowers at a later stage.

St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School participate in the annual Big Spring Clean to ensure our school is tidy and clean with an abundance of beautiful flowers and plants on display.

The Eco Committee remind  staff and children in each class to turn off lights, computers and all electrical appliances which are not in use.

Saint Oliver Plunkett's Primary school have been awarded the Bronze and Silver Eco Awards for their Eco saving work to date. We were awarded the prestigious Eco Green Flag Award in 2017/18.

Check out the Eco Committee noticeboard (outside the secretary's office) to find out what else they are getting up to.
