Epic Cumann na mBunscol Matches

29th Mar 2022

The boys and girls played fantastically well today at the latest of our Cumann na mBunscol fixtures against a very strong St. Jarlath's P.S., Blackwatertown. There was some fantastic football played by everyone involved and the standard of play was something to behold.

We started off with an epic battle between our boys' team and that of St. Jarlath's which came right down to the wire. Having led throughout and having run ourselves into the ground, we were caught by two last gasp goals that left us ending up on the losing side of a 3-6 to 4-4 scoreline. Next up is St. Theresa's P.S. next Tuesday, again at home.

The girls' team fared better in their match, running out comfortable winners and yet again showing great composure in defence and in front of the goals. There were stars all over the pitch and they now also head into their next match against a strong St. Theresa's knowing that anything less than a win will see them knocked out of the league - all the best girls in your next match!

And finally, we played two consecutive matches where everyone who attends afterschool Gaelic from P5-P7 was given a chance to show their skills and play against pupils from outside of school. Yet again, the effort and hard work put in by all of the players was brilliant and we were lucky enough to pip St. Jarlath's to the win after a close battle.

We want to thank the Davitt's club for the use of the pitch and providing the refreshments for the adults present and also a huge word of thanks to the parents who helped with transporting of the boys and girls to the club.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh as ucht bhur gcuid cuidithe go léir!
