Girls' Team Wins Dungannon Academy Tournament
Both our boys' and girls' football panels travelled the short distance to Dungannon today for the St. Patrick's Academy Small Schools Tournament. We were thrilled to have had an amazingly successful day, with both squads excelling in their respective competitions.
The boys faced some very strong opposition in the group stages. After playing some scintillating football, they came away with two wins and two losses to qualify for a quarter-final against St. Mary's, Stewartstown. Unfortunately, the Stewartstown lads were able to pull away in the final two minutes of the game, but our boys bowed out having played their very best. They can be very proud of their performance.
The girls also put on a great show in the group stage, powering to four wins from four and topping their group by a significant margin. They carried this momentum into the knockout stages, clinical displays of footballing ability seeing them through the quarter and semi-finals. In the final, they were paired against a strong St. Mary's, Stewartstown. Building on their technical skill, the girls showed immense grit and determination to secure a dominating win.
Throughout the day, we saw amazing performances from every player, and we were honoured to see Mena crowned Player of the Tournament for her individual and team contributions.
Huge thanks to everyone at the Academy for their wonderful hospitality and the invitation to participate. We already look forward to returning next year to defend our Girls' title and compete for the boys' cup once more!
