After reading the story of The Little Red Hen, the children in Primary 1 decided they would like to make bread. During shared writing, the children complied a list of ingredients needed to make the bread. When the ingredients were got, we all set to work measuring and mixing the ingredients. Some children loved the smell of the buttermilk.
We popped the bread into the oven and had a little play with some of our toys while we waited for the bread to bake. Just in time for snack time, the children enjoyed a piece of freshly baked bread.
