Penguin Ice Eggs

12th Feb 2020

The Arctic explorers in P.1 decided to investigate penguins hatching along with some ice. As a class, they worked together to make ice eggs using balloons, penguins, a funnel, a jug and water. When they were ready, pupils put them in freezer for a long 24 hours.

The next day the ice eggs were ready. After we peeled the balloons off, we handled the eggs and pupils used words to describe how they felt - cold, melty, drippy, hard, freezing. We gave the penguins their own unique names - Bob, Cecil, Gertrude and Delilah 😊 and we put them in different areas of the school to see which egg would β€˜hatch’ first.

We hope you enjoy our video which concludes with the findings of our experiment.
