Relatives' Day 2026

28th Jan 2026

We were delighted to showcase our Catholic Schools Week materials as we welcomed the relatives of our pupils into school today for Relatives' Day 2026. After days of unsettled weather, we were thrilled to see a break in the rain, with a gloriously bright and fresh morning greeting everyone as they set off on the Daily Mile walk around the school grounds. The turnout was so large that the morning was split into two groups.

Group 1 began with the outdoor walk while Group 2 gathered in the hall to enjoy tea and coffee and take part in making St. Brigid’s Crosses. The groups later swapped, giving everyone the chance both to stretch their legs and to create their own crosses. To bring the relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable morning to a close, our school choir performed beautifully, treating everyone to a selection of uplifting music.

To ensure no pupil felt left out, the entire school later took part in a Daily Mile walk in the afternoon, giving children whose relatives couldn't attend the morning session the opportunity to join in the celebration.

This event continues to grow in popularity each year and has now become a cherished highlight of our school calendar. We look forward to welcoming Fr. Sheehan on Friday to bless the St. Brigid’s Crosses before they are sent home—one for every child in the school.

A huge thank you goes to Mr. Cullen and all who assisted in the hall with the cross‑making, and of course to all the relatives who joined us to celebrate this much‑loved occasion. The shared photos capture the warmth, joy and strong sense of community that shone throughout the day.
