Science Week in Primary 1
We have enjoyed Science Week in Primary 1. We completed the ‘Walking Water’ experiment where children observed water ‘walking’ from one glass to another through absorption. This also covered colour mixing because the red and yellow water combined to make orange water and the blue and green water combined to make orange water.
We also coloured a rainbow on to the end of a piece of kitchen and dipped this into water. This allowed the colours of the rainbow to travel up through the kitchen roll.
A firm favourite was the Leak Proof Bag experiment. The children were adamant that sticking pencils into a sandwich bags full of water would either burst it or cause leaks. Children were amazed when this wasn’t the case and they couldn’t believe how many pencils we poked through the bag without losing any water (after a few attempts 😂)
On Friday, children showcased some of their own experiments. Have a look at our photos to see out little scientists in action.
