Shared Education Fun Day

11th Jun 2025
In what turned out to be a beautifully sunny and warm morning, the pupils from both Derryhale P.S. and St. Oliver Plunkett's came together to celebrate an end of year joint fun-day to close off the project for the 24/25 school year. Throughout this year we aimed to instill a lifelong sense of the importance of leading active lifestyles in the pupils aligned with promoting healthy eating practices and choices. We were delighted to take this opportunity to bring every boy and girl from Derryhale and St. Oliver Plunkett's together to take part in wide variety of inclusive activities such as soccer, running events, dance, multi-sports and a daily mile. And, to add to the occasion we welcomed a wonderful turnout of parents/relatives to support and cheer on the pupils throughout the morning.

We were also visited by members of the EA's Shared Education implementation team and they were hugely impressed with what they saw in terms of a vibrant, active and engaging programme of events. They also commented on the fabulous evidence of friendship and co-operative play that they witnessed between pupils from the two schools and it was brilliant way to end the project for all involved.

A massive thank you to the teams at Derryhale and St. Oliver Plunkett's for organising such a wonderful event and to the volunteers who provided refreshments to the guests. We wish our friends in Derryhale a very sunny, fun-filled and restful summer break and look forward to building further bridges throughout 25/26 in whatever form the new project will take!
