Welcome Back P1 and P7

28th Aug 2025

After a busy summer of external improvements to our school grounds and feverish preparation this past few days to prepare for our new school year, we welcome our P1 and P7 pupils to school tomorrow morning for their first day of 2025/26.

We hope everyone is excited and ready to come back and we can't wait for another wonderful year ahead.

Upon your arrival in the morning (and for all other pupils on Monday morning), you'll notice significant safety improvements to our front gates, carparking and access to the Orchard PlayGroup. These are solely for the health and safety of all pupils and visitors to our school and bring with them new arrangements for drop off and pickup. Mainly;

1. All pupils will enter and exit the school through the new gate directly into our main yard each morning and afternoon. This gate will open at 8.50am and close again at 9.10am sharp after which time pupils must be accompanied on foot by an adult to the front reception for signin with Mrs. McCann.

2. Access to the Orchard PlayGroup is now through a new dedicated gate and secure footpath, meaning no 3 or 4 year old child will ever be required to walk through the active carpark again.

3. Under no circumstances should any parent/carer or relative use the staff carpark for turning or for waiting at drop-off and pick-up times.

4. Pupils attending the after-school club will use a new dedicated footpath and entrance gate from the school grass pitch to the door of the playgroup at 2pm and 3pm. Existing arrangements remain in place. And finally,

5. Access for adults to the school playground and main yard is now restricted and as such P1, P2 and P3 classes will be brought to the front gates each day at 2pm for collection at home time. Please inform any of your relatives who may regularly collect pupils from school of these new arrangements.

We look forward to your receiving your help and co-operation in this regard and know that these improvements will help to make our school even more safe and secure for the wonderful pupils.
