Welcome October

5th Oct 2018

The first week in October has been and gone and our P1 pupils are continuing to work hard. They have had a busy week making their names with play dough and magnetic letters. We then had lots of practice, copying and writing our names, forming the letters correctly.

We have 2 dog puppets in our class - Discovery Dog and Nora. After watching a video clip on the Interactive Whiteboard, we had to investigate if the tallest person is the oldest and if the smallest person is the youngest. The P1 children lined up in order of height and then we checked our class list to see who was the oldest/youngest. We discovered, that being tall doesn’t mean you are the oldest, nor does being small mean you are the youngest.

During art, we cut apples in half, dipped them in paint using colours associated with Autumn and made prints on paper. It was lots of fun.

We began our Linguistic Phonics programme. Our first sound was the ‘s’ sound. We found lots of interesting objects beginning with ‘sssssss’. We also formed the letter s in the sand, using thread and with crayons and markers on large pages.

We have 19 ‘sssssuper sssstars’ in our class.
