๐Ÿ”ฌ ๐Ÿงช Whole School Science Day at the Navan Centre ๐Ÿงช ๐Ÿ”ฌ

10th Mar 2026

Our whole school recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the Navan Centre in Armagh for a fantastic Fun Science Day. The children took part in three different interactive activities, each filled with fun, learning and lots of laughter!

The first activity was an amazing bubble science show. The children learned about the science behind bubbles and how air, chemicals and other factors can change how bubbles behave. Some of our brave volunteers helped to create clouds, giant bubbles, and even a very tall bubble hairstyle known as “Marge Simpson” bubble hair! It was fascinating to see how science can make bubbles bigger, stronger and more exciting.

Next, the children met the entertaining Scientist Mr Pip, who performed a range of exciting experiments with the help of our pupils. One popular experiment involved mixing colours using Skittles, while another explored pressure created when chemicals react, causing things to pop! Mr Pip even persuaded some members of staff to dress up as sumo wrestlers, which helped demonstrate some of his fun and slightly crazy experiments.

For the third activity, the children stepped back in time and met a Viking. They learned how Vikings used a wooden compass floating in a bucket of water to help guide their longboats in the correct direction when travelling across the seas. The children also had the chance to explore different Viking weapons, discovering which ones could create the most pressure using the least amount of force.

After a busy morning of learning and fun, everyone enjoyed eating their packed lunches together as a whole school before heading back onto the bus and returning to school.

It was a wonderful day filled with science, history, hands-on learning and great memories for everyone! ๐Ÿšโœจ
