Whole School Visit to Gilfresh Produce

18th Oct 2022

In what proved to be a busy but hugely enjoyable morning for everyone at the school, (if not a little mucky at the same time!!!) everyone enjoyed their visit to the Pumpkin Patch at Gilfresh Farm Produce. We were met by Anne, Caroline and seven of the Gilfresh team at the pumpkin patch and they brought us through the maze on a spooky letter hunt before allowing the pupils to gather and select a pumpkin to take home. There were one or two spooky frights in store for the pupils and staff in the maze and this proved to be a great event to help launch our Halloween programme.

We want to once more express our gratitude and thanks to everyone at Gilfresh for their fabulous hospitality and hope to maybe visit them again later in the year for a more detailed look at a farm to shelf journey for food prodcuts.

The boys and girls are now taking part in a free-of-charge Pumpkin Carving Challenge where they can share a picture of their creepy creation with us on Padlet and spot prizes will be awarded to one winner in each yeargroup at next week's Halloween assembly. Best of luck to everyone who enters - the password for the Padlet has been shared on SeeSaw. The link to the Padlet to check out the entries so far is

And finally, an extra word of thanks goes to the parents of our very own Mark and Sarah who very generously met us at the pumpkin patch to donate two full boxes of juicy locally grown apples for the boys and girls to enjoy for a healthy snack on their return. They were absolutely delicious and everyone enjoyed the treat - go raibh maith agaibh Mark, Sarah and family.
